Scuba Diving at Balmorhea

Diving in the west Texas desert, at the foot of the Davis Mountains. First time to use an underwater camera case that I designed and built from PVC and Plexiglass.

whoaa seems like a nice place to dive, how s the water temp like & depth?
what time of the year whas this shot?
is it worth going to texas to dive?

  • bigbadrocketboy:

the deepest my gauge ever read was 19 feet I believe.. it’s average maybe around 15 feet. Temp is 77-80 last October. They say since it’s spring fed that the water will stay constant temp all year. I drove almost 8 hours to dive it, but loved it… as far as texas, it’s one of the clearest places in the state.

What are you doing right around 2:18 ?

  • hoomanity:

but how deep does does it get?

  • manderson29:

Well done–not just because Balmorhea is amazing but because your video was clear, showed the best aspects of the pool (including the springs themselves), and you didn’t feel the need to add an audio commentary

  • hunterabess:

Cool video. I live there by the way (park managers son). We like diving down and catching turtles :D
